Guided tour of Saverne : the alsatian hidden gem

History of Alsace in the heart of the Vosges du Nord Nature Park

Let’s discover Saverne, the city of the Unicorn, on this 2-hour guided tour. Situated in the heart of the Vosges du Nord Nature Park, this unique town is crossed by the famous Canal de la Marne au Rhin, built between 1838 and 1853.

A port town where we can admire the different views of the canal and the town from the locks around the city center.

Opposite the marina is the grand Château des Rohan, Alsace’s little Versailles, built in the 18th century.

In Saverne’s historic centre, a number of houses stand out, including the Maison Katz, a jewel of Alsatian architecture.

Saverne was also the scene of a tormented episode in the history of Alsace: the Saverne Affair. We’ll talk about this affair, which shook Alsace at the beginning of the 20th century and shook the German Empire under William II.

Duration: approximately 2 hours.

Price: €20/person. Groups of 1 to 6 people.
