North of Strasbourg, I’m taking you on a guided tour tour of the town of Schiltigheim, or Schilick as it’s known here. 

A town with a rich industrial past, we’re going to discover the remains of the great Schilick breweries that left their mark on the town’s landscape and made it the beer capital of Alsace for decades.

While in Old Schiltigheim, you can admire the beautiful half-timbered houses of Alsace, as well as buildings in a variety of architectural styles, from Art Nouveau to neo-Gothic.

Schilick has seen the ups and downs of Alsatian history, between France and Germany. We’ll learn more about the impact of the many changes of nationality and the complicated history of our region.
