Explore Strasbourg ‘s “Neustadt” (german for new city).
The “Neustadt” was a major German project to extend the city of Strasbourg during the first occupation of Alsace at the end of the Franco-Prussian War.
Strasbourg has a troubled history. After the Franco-Prussian War, Alsace was taken from France by the new German Empire. It remained german for 47 consecutive years until the end of the First World War, when it reverted to French rule. 47 years is plenty of time to leave your mark on such a symbolic city.
On this immersive tour, you’ll discover the beautiful, monumental facades of the stylish buildings, as well as one of Strasbourg’s most iconic landmarks the Eglise Saint-Paul (outdoor tour).
We’ll talk about the war(s) and their impact on the city, but we’ll also make the link with today’s Neustadt. Quiet, close to the city center with all amenities, space and parks, the district has become one of Strasbourg’s most sought-after.
Duration: approx. 2 hours.
Price: €29/person. Groups of 1 to 6 people.
